Advanced Pistol 2 Certificate

The Advanced Pistol 2 program was another awesome course.  Shooting multiple targeets, moving and shooting and shooting behind barricades are just a few of the elements covered here.  On Wednesday evenings, the TDSA crew get together with the instructors and practice all aespects of what we were taught.  Like anything, reviewing, reminding and practising help to ingrain the principles into ones mind so it becomes natural.  Trust me, I am far from good at this stuff but with practice I hope to be.  Tonite I reconfigured my equipment belt so it felt more comfortable when I reload.
I sent my coach a text regarding what i was doing and he immediatly sent me a text to ensure that when I do reload, I should see the target through my trigger guard.  Awesome tip that I won't forget!
I know that some of my friends have a curiosity and even a desire to pursue pistol shooting and I can't encourage you enough to pursue it.  Challenging, rewarding, a great sense of comradarie with others who share the same interest, outdoors and having fun.  But with that said, I'll be playing basketball Thursday night for two hours and will be hobbled for a week!  Hopefully I'll shoot well! (usually do, at least on the court!)lol!

Advanced Pistol 1 Certificate

An awesome course thanks to my coach Scott Little.  Holster qualification and completion of AP1 has been a blast.  Prior to the course my thought was- aim and shoot.  Man, there is so much more to pistol work.  Forgetting about your day and relaxing and focusing in on this super fun and challenging feat. Ensuring the pistol muzzle is always pointed ina safe direction down range. Setting the proper  platform or stance, proper draw to the correct grip, propeer sight picture, feeling the slack of the trigger and meeting the breaking point. Then using just the very tip of your finger to smoothly pull the trigger.  Waiting and seeing and feeling what you just did.  Retracting the pistol the same way it was presented and safely holstering it. Sounds easy, but it's an exercise in physics, anatomy, muscle and mental memory.  But man, it's fun!

New Kicks

Since my knees and ankles are blown from nearly a half a century of basketball, I found that the terrain can be a bit tracherous.  On the make a wish fundraising day at Silverdale, Hamilton Tacticle hapopened to have a kiosk there with the exact footwaer I was looking for.( well not exactly, i did like the pair with the zipper down the side) but they were there and so was I!  Awesome s.w.a.t. desert boot.  Unbelievably comfortable with great support.  i think I may have to get a waterproof pair in black.  As a good Canadian boy, rain and snow mean a good day to be at the range or barbequing!

Finally at Home!

Finally at Home are my Smith and Wesson M&P 9mm and Stag AR 15.
Broke them both down to familiarize myself with them and cleaned the M&P thoroughly as I put 1000 rounds through it.  Just waiting on myfulltime Authorization to transport, then off to da range at my leisure!

6am Holster Practice

Well Thanks the Lord for small miracles!  I finally recieved my P.A.L licences and a temporary travel permit.  I camped out on the range and ran 1000 rounds through my new M&P 9mm.  I changed from a medium palmswell to a large and found that the larger grip ensured I use my left hand more.  As a result, I was far more accurate.  Here I'm using the bladetech holster that comes with the kit, but by now, I'm so used to a drop hoslter and my instructor Scott has generously donated a spare for my cause! These draws are slow as I'm also working on accuracy shooting an 8" paper plate. I have the 9mm and Stag AR 15 now and will be posting again soon!

Well it's not exactly a Zombie Machine, but it is part of my new arsenal! Picked up this 92 YJ Renegade last week.  I sold my Expedition Planet Killer and picked up this classic buggy!
